On April 13th, the Peninsula Hokie Club hosted approximately 100 fervent Hokie fans at their annual spring Orange & Maroon dinner. These folks came to enjoy a delicious buffet dinner, socialize with other Hokies, and to listen to remarks by Coach Frank Beamer and Ladies Basketball Coach, Dennis Wolff. Both speakers left Hokie fans looking forward with great anticipation to the upcoming seasons.
On May 12th, the 20th annual Peninsula Hokie Club Golf Tourney was held at Kiln Creek Golf Resort in Newport News, VA. Nineteen 4-person teams participated in the event for a total of 76 golfers. It was a beautiful day and although the golf was not always beautiful, everyone seemed to have a great time. Approximately 82 folks attended the lunch and award ceremony after the golf. The best golfers of the day were: Overall winner – 55 – D. Schoeller,G. Knapp, C. Herrington, D. Floyd; 1st flight – 1st – 58 – R. Lawhon team, 2nd – 61- F. Cowling team, 3rd – 62 – F. Seamster team; 2nd flight winner- 61 – R. Spunzo team, 2nd – 61 – J. Kuykendall team, 3rd – 62 – R. Hendricks team; 3rd flight winner – 65 – B. Mcfall team, 2nd – 67 – D. Leigh team, 3rd – 68 – D. Lutz team.
However, everyone participating received consolation prizes, courtesy of local merchants and hard work from the Peninsula Hokie Reps.

The PHC’s annual auction of six football season tickets was completed on July 10. The tickets were sold in three pairs and left a Hokie in Roanoke, Moneta,VA, and Charleston, SC anticipating viewing Hokie football from Lane Stadium this Fall. Of course, the result made the PHC very happy also since the sale will help the club reach it’s VTAF fund-raising goal for the year.
